Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung believes that the young players being offered an opportunity to train with the first-team should take advantage of the chances that come their way while also remaining patient for opportunities.
The South Korean icon knows a thing or two about playing for Manchester United after having represented the team in several major competitions over the years. Ji sung Park represented the Red Devils for more than five years and he was the first choice of defensive strength to manager Sir Alex Ferguson in every big game played by the club.
He recently retired from football and is concentrating on helping promote United in the Asian region, where he has immense popularity. The former PSV Eindhoven midfielder has also been giving out his tips for the young players in United’s squad. The club has a strong tradition of promoting from within and this has been the foundation of their success in the last two decades. However, there is a danger of this policy being forgotten under the regime of Louis Van Gaal. Park Ji Sung claims that the arrival of young players to the squad is up to the quality of players rather than the presence of a different manager.
The player will be witnessing two of his former clubs coming together in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday.”Some young players are getting more chances to play and train together with the first team. It’s a really big motivation for them and also it’s good motivation for all squad. Those young players can also give other motivation for their fellow young players. That’s tradition of the club and our strength. What is important for the youngsters is they have to know that they have long way to go. So they need to show their quality constantly,” said Park.
